5 Favorite Things About Winter

Hey everyone! Sorry it’s been so long! I’ve been really busy with school and winter break. Hope you like this post; my 5 favorite things about winter. πŸ™‚πŸ™Œ

  1. The snow. Up here in Chicago, we just got our first snow that sticks on the ground last week, and it’s still here. I love watching the snow out the window because we have a big pine tree in our front yard that looks really pretty with snow hanging off it. Sometimes it’s fun to shovel and play in too. I especially love when it’s brand new and it’s soft but sounds cool when you step on it. πŸŒ¨β„
We drove to Milwaukee before the snowstorm, and the way back had a bunch of snow-covered trees like this!

2. The holidays. Especially starting from late November all the way until mid-January, because some people leave their Christmas decorations up that long. I love this time of year because it’s fun to drive through our neighborhood at night and look at all the lights. And since Christmas is a time of giving, it’s fun to shop for presents, because all of our malls are all decked out for the holiday season. (well the HIP mall I know was, I don’t know about the others. I did my Xmas shopping at the HIP so I know that for a fact…anyways let’s just move on.) πŸŽ„πŸ•―

Half of our tree its covered in homemade ornaments!

3. Sweatpants. At wintertime, I finally get to break out my sweatpants, which are the most comfiest things I own. I love sweatpants because they’re so cozy and I live in them half the time. πŸ‘–πŸ‘

yes I know these aren’t sweatpants, I just typed in “cozy” and this came up.

4. Hot drinks. During the wintertime, it’s so much fun to curl up with some tea, hot chocolate, cider, or coffee and a book and read the day away. My favorite hot drink has to be peppermint hot cocoa, and I like to pick out a thick book and put on some socks and sweatpants and just read. (I just rearranged my bookshelf and got rid of a whole segment of books, so now I have a bunch of room! Bow down, you’ve met your match. Bonus: I also found my vaccine card; it’s been missing for months. Whoops!)β˜•πŸ΅

Comment down below your favorite hot drink! P.S. Soon I might do a story rewrite πŸ˜‰

5. Winter activies (and sometimes the Olympics!). One fun part of winter is the activities. Though I’ve never been skiing, I have been sledding and ice skating, but there’s also snowshoeing, snowboarding, and zoo lights. (You might be sensing a theme, what can I say? We Midwesterners/Northerners like our snow). And every few years the Winter Olympics happen. If Covid allows, we can look forward to the 2022 Winter Olympics, held in Beijing, China. β›·πŸ›·

One of my best friends is a great figure skater!! Props to you Angelina!

Hope you enjoyed my post! Sorry again that it’s been awhile! Have a great January!

  1. β€œTo thine own self be true.”

This was (part of) my Senior yearbook quote. I love it!

β€œThis above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any[one].”

    – Polonius (Hamlet, Act-1, Scene-III, 78–82)
